Cozumel is an island of 70,000-75,000 in habitants off the northeast coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. It's principal income comes from fishing, diving and tourism. Because of the coral reefs, scuba diving is one of Cozumel's main attractions. The pictures below were taken from our cruise ship (Grandeur of the Seas) and include a panorama as well as photos that compose the panoram. Costa Maya is a tourist area with a port on the southern part of the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, located not far from the Belize border. In the area are two small towns: Mahahual, a fishing village near the port and Xcalak, located about 35 miles south of the port. The photos below were taken at the port and in the general area. In recent years it has been developed for tourism. Read more about Costa Maya at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Costa_Maya.
